- Remember tilting your arms while playing Excitebike to try to make your character land a huge jump? That experience is finally a reality with Excite Truck
- Your controller is a steering wheel – Hold the Wii Remote like an NES controller to control the truck; the 2 button is the accelerator, the 1 button is the brake, the Control Pad is the turbo
- Tilt the Wii Remote controller right and left like a steering wheel to steer
- Once the truck goes airborne, tilt the Wii Remote controller every which way to line up the wheels for landing boosts
- Pick up items on the courses to make the terrain deform in real time, turning innocent bumps into massive launch pads

The game is mildy amusing in single player mode but the novelty really wears off after a few hours. The gameplay is just not engaging enough to keep you coming back for more. Where this game horribly falls down is in mutiplayer or “versus” mode. First, you are locked in side by side mode and the view feels very cramped from right to left. There should have been an option to change to a stacked view. It’s like trying to drive without peripheral vision. It wasn’t like I was trying this on a TV that was too small either (61 inches). Second, there are no other cars out there competing except for you and the person you are racing against. With the huge jumps and turboing off into the woods, that pretty much means you’ll see your opponent about 2 or 3 times a race. It feels like a time trial on a screen that’s cut in half. To sum it up, the game is fun for a day and multiplayer is worthless. Without replay value and the ability to enjoy the game with friends, I feel my money certainly could have been invested better. Caveat emptor.

OK I admit I’m not a big fan of racing games. I liked Burnout 2 on the Xbox, but that was mostly because of its crash mode. How much fun can you have driving in circles over and over again? Yeah the courses change and there is the competition aspect, but really in the end you are just sitting there holding down the accelerator button and tilting the controller. There’s no real strategy, suspense, or thinking. Oh and the physics are weak. Explain to me how a car can turn in mid air with no wheels touching the ground? This may be fun for parties for about 5 minutes at most.

For parents looking for games for their kids, this one is better to rent before purchasing. I noticed others have posted good ratings for this game. My teenagers and all their friends did not like this game and they do not play it.

It is funny. I read the reviews and totally disagreed with them. I found this game to be silly. The flying trucks and loud music were annoying. Luckily, we rented the game to discover this instead of paying for it. Essentially, you can crash and destroy your vehicle many times during the race and still win. It does take practice but it is so unrealistic that it bears no resemblance to actual truck driving. Is this where video games are going?

I received the product quickly, in good order and for a good price. However, I cannot adequately give a review of the fun or overall experience as my kids have only played it once so far. They are currently enjoying the sports package that came with the Wii…
