I have been working out with the Wii Active and Fit for a total of three months. I love both games and will not put them down. I purchased both the Fit Plus and Biggest Loser this week, I will be using both to as well. I find that having a different routine gives me something to look forward too. Each game may different but it’s what you put into each one. I will incorporate each game into my workout and hope to get a great outcome. I like that Active takes the time to explain the correct way to do the exercise and makes sure that that is done. I didn’t see that in Biggest Loser. I like that Active adds in the Cardio into your routine (30 day challenge) which puts you on the track each time. The tempo in the Biggest Loser is slow, I wish you could change the music. I like that the Biggest Loser has the cal counter but so does Active. Loser has more details but I didn’t burn what I would have in Active. I’ve only had the Loser for 24 hours so I will have to give it some time. I will continue to use this game because it will add variety to my overall workout. Active gives rest days for your body to heal and I will use this on those days or heck maybe on the days that I do use Active. It is all what I put into it. All in all Biggest Loser is good to have.

    controls/feedback of effort:

I agree with Rajendra S. Gondhalekar’s review about the feedback only being tiny blue bar at the lower left to tell you how hard you are working & the animation is always canned. I chose Bob & he’d just barely say a couple canned lines depending if I totally stopped moving or was moving at top form, though the animation of him & my character would never stop moving or change in any way. I also had an occasional issues with it reading when I was doing something correctly using the BB & also if I moved faster/harder then Bob wanted me to. it’s silly I get penalized for moving FASTER/BETTER then is exepected. I liked wii fit’s use of showing you exactly where your center of weight was & even Jillian’s 2009 did this as well if I remember correctly.

they used the wii balance board well, using it whenever there was weight shifting w/o jumping/jogging & even using it for weight checks! *roll eyes at Jillian’s 2009 game*

    exercises/exercise program:

I tried medium intensity & saw a lot of repetition of the same moves. In the menu system you can choose a style workout, make your own, or a single move type. The single menu choice gives a shadow picture & name for each & if it’s light, medium, hard, intense in terms of challenge. it’s all gym style moves, if you’re looking for simulated sports, you won’t find it here other then punching/uppercuts, boxing sways, skating & wood chopping. you can choose your intensity in the routines or in your account for the program they give you, or decide how long each workout will last in the single choices.

there are a couple challenges you can do & see the best times of the real tv contestants, but while your avatar cycles on a stationary bike to turn on light bulbs, runs on a treadmill above a pool, or shimmies over a suspension ropes, you’re doing same exercises foudn in the main game, though ones that best simulate somewhat what the avatar is doing on the screen.

    health/calories/outside exercise:

it allows you to state how much you are eating daily so you can keep track, calorie counter, credit for outside household chores/workouts, advice, etc.

    presentation:

I’d say graphics from early-mid 1990s, the wii is capable of much more then this by a landslide. the animations of your character & trainer at least have the smooth movement of how a real body works. This is all looking at your trainer & your choice of either 3 male or female past BL contestants as your avatar. they start at the biggest & lose weight as you go, which helps somewhat to motivate you to see your avatar “lose weight”. all you see is just your trainer & you in a gym, at the poolside, etc. nothing fantasy or made to be fun.

    fantasy:

I was really looking for a more fantasy presentation or more developed feedback system which would motivate me or I think many others more. this is better then a glorified dvd menu, but not by too much. that’s what I expect from a video game like Wii sports, Wii fit/Wii fit plus, We cheer, Wii sports resort, All star cheer squad, Gold’s gym cardio boxing, etc., even Jillian michaels’ fitness ultimatium 2009 (just the controls & graphics weren’t good & needed mroe polishing) & EA sports active.

try renting at blockbuster or gamefly.

I purchased this game after reading the reviews on amazon and was excited to get started. i’ve been using ea active for a while, and i like it a lot, but thought a change would be nice; plus, i’m a huge fan of the show. there is no question that this game will give you a tough work out. i’ve done exercises on the moderate level (full body) and the light (core) and was sweating my tail off on both. the biggest complaint i have about the game, however, is that there does not seem to be a schedule for you. i like ea active because the challenge sets up a work out schedule for you. the loser just seems to leave you on your own to decide what to work out and how hard to work out. it seems if you are going to input your stats, it could come up with the work outs for you to do for the duration you choose (4, 8 or 12 wks). i feel a bit at a loss and not sure what work out i should do and when. my only other complaint is that, with just the remote, the game does not seem to be picking up all of my movements. i have not received “credit” for exercises i am doing on the loser b/c for some reason, the remote is not picking up that i’m actually working my tail off. i have had a few exercises show that i had zero effort, as if i hadn’t done anything. that’s a bit annoying when sweat is dripping down your nose. if you aren’t worried about what kind of credit they give you for the exercises, then it’s no biggy. definetely a great work out though.

I’ve very disappointed in this game. Setting aside the horrible graphics the calibrations for the Wii equipment aren’t even in sync with what the trainer is doing. I expected more from a $[...] game. The constant repeat of the trainers voice are annoying as well. Someone needs to revamp the entire game.

I really was hoping for a full weight loss/fitness package. While the exercise routines and the challenges are adequate, there is no menu planning, there are recipes but limited. The program will tell you how many calories you should eat but not when or in what combination. Frankly I find it very lacking, carrying the Biggest Loser name should have more impact on the overall not just another exercise game.

FYI, I saw on Jillian’s Facebook page this not she left on October 7 “I had nothing to do with BL game. They took an old press pic of me and put it on there box. Don’t even know what’s in it or who created it.”

I suggest you just buy a workout program Wii Fit is more fun.
